About Us

Green Initiative for Humanitarian Aid and Development (GreeniHAD) was founded by Onyekachi Chukwu on the 27th of May 2017 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT 193401) on the 29th of November, 2022 and other relevant bodies in January, 2023. GreeniHAD is a team of energetic Humanitarians, Academics, Environmentalists, Health experts, Managers, Agriculture Experts, Engineers, Nature Conservationists, Citizen Scientists and community volunteers who came together with their expertise to employ environmental friendly solutions in approaching developmental and humanitarian actions while sustaining social and gender equality.

The founder and his team growing up in rural areas gave them the opportunity to see how vulnerable people are in rural areas especially those affected by natural or man-made disasters, and as a result, they saw the plight of the poor and socially excluded as a plight that knocks on the door of their souls. They also realized the necessity of this establishment as a means of contributing to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) however, with high environmental consciousness which has been the driving force and motivation.
Our staff strength is an acceptable standard of 20 experience staffers (both regular and executive cadre), a team of international technical advisors and 60 volunteers which fluctuates on-demand basis.

Over the years, our passion for the environment has led to the planting of over 1000 trees under the “Plant Birthday and Event trees initiative” (2017 till date). GreeniHAD has partnered with other NGOs to advocate about climate change and clean energy education especially in high schools (2022). Presently, GreeniHAD is working on partnering with coalition of some Northeast Nigeria NGOs to empower the returned internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Northeastern Nigeria to propagate Cactus plant as source of income as well as greening the areas destroyed by insurgents.
GreeniHAD, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) as well as a Non-Profit Organisation operates with full respect for international humanitarian principles and laws, respect for the rights of human at all levels and environment. We also work with concrete work policies of international standard and high respect and regards to our partners’ policy and rule of engagement.
