PROJECTS
- Whole School Approach to Climate Action and Education for Sustainable Development (WSACA-ESD)
The WSACA-ESD is an integrated program designed to embed sustainability into the fabric of school operations, culture, and curriculum. By engaging students, teachers, administrators, and the broader school community, WSACA-ESD aims to create a comprehensive and participatory approach to climate action and education for sustainable development.
In 2024, GreeniHAD established two (2) pilot Environmental and Climate Change Clubs (E3Cs) in secondary schools:
- Redeemers High School, Awka, Anambra State.
- Hirra Academy, Maiduguri, Borno State.
The establishment of the Climate Club is to empower young people to take action in their own lives to address climate change.
There’s no getting away from the fact that climate change is big and scary and can loom large in the lives of our children. Climate Clubs have been designed by experienced Groundwork environmental educators to specifically recognise children’s concerns and sensitively acknowledge feelings of eco-anxiety. With this in mind, all topics are discussed with a clear focus on the fact that solutions exist and that, as individuals and communities, we can make a difference.
2. Green Sustainability Academy (GSA)
A Flagship Youth Empowerment Project of GreeniHAD
The Green Sustainability Academy (GSA) is a structured youth mentorship and capacity-building programme established by Green Initiative for Humanitarian Aid and Development (GreeniHAD) to nurture a new generation of sustainability leaders. The Academy targets youths, students, and young graduates, equipping them with practical knowledge, skills, and values in green culture, climate action, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
GSA is designed not just as a training programme, but as a pipeline for community-level sustainable action across Nigeria and beyond.
